Several years ago, we began expanding our global production resources and to implement a strategy to take our Canadian business global. NOW SELLING IN CHINA
In the mid–2000’s, the exploding middle class in the Far East was fuelling unprecedented discretionary purchases. By utilizing new merchandising tools we began helping clients stand out and sell more in–store. For example, through our Petroleum Retail business, Forecourt Solutions, we introduced our proprietary, highly durable molded displays to PetroChina as a viable alternative to their metal displays. Three years on, PetroChina selected nine displays to be used in their unique streetscape branding statement at their gas stations.
Our goal was to also demonstrate that we can assist Chinese multinationals market in China and abroad. We created an alliance with one of our European partners to help us procure and sell in Asia, and formed Gorrie Tchai Asia Limited. We now have a procurement office in Nanjing and sales offices in both Beijing and Hong Kong. Our efforts have also led to a new joint venture with a rotational molder where we make our unique molded displays. These relationships have enhanced our ability to bring innovation and outstanding value to our clients in Canada and around the world.

Another key aspect of our ability to deliver for our clients has been to have the vision to understand their needs – almost before they do. A number of years ago, we realized there were several powerful forces at work: a trend towards globalization, the digital revolution and a re–evaluation of costs related to the purchasing of “In–Store” materials. We had the foresight to know these factors would quickly transform how global brands, as well as medium and smaller companies, were going to do business in the future.
To anticipate our clients’ needs, we established a well–disciplined manufacturing base in Asia to procure components that are produced more cost effectively. These components are shipped to our Canadian factory for final assembly and quality control for nearly 25% of our production projects. This ensures we continue to support our Canadian workers and their families. We are also presently working on another joint venture with a company in the wood fixture business to service multi–national brands in China.
A further advantage for our clients is that we can have our Industrial and Graphic design teams available virtually around the clock. Imagine, as our creative people are finishing for the day in North America, our creative team in Asia can continue working utilizing the same software platforms. This ensures our customers benefit from a quick response time and highly strategic creative solutions.
